Our Dynamic India group has just returned from an unforgettable adventure across the diverse landscapes of India - and what an extraordinary journey it was! From encountering majestic tigers to exploring historic palaces and forts, along with indulging in a luxurious rail experience onboard the Maharajas Express, our small group tour through the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan was brimming with highlights.
Beginning our expedition after being exposed to the excitement of bustling cities in Delhi and Jabalpur, we found ourselves immersed in the natural splendour of Bandhavgarh National Park, renowned for its high concentration of wild tigers. Here, luxurious safari tents welcomed us, and early morning game drives granted us the privilege of witnessing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, alongside a plethora of other wildlife such as deer, jackals, and monkeys.
Continuing our safari odyssey, we ventured south to the Kipling Camp in Kanha National Park, where thrilling safari drives provided unparalleled encounters with tigers, including the mesmerizing scene of a juvenile tiger chasing a mongoose. Our wildlife encounters included the unique opportunity to bathe Tara, a 70-year-old Asian elephant.
Our exploration led us to the vibrant Deccan city of Hyderabad, where we marvelled at the grandeur of Golconda Fort, offering insights into the bygone era of Bahmani Kings. Returning to Delhi, we embarked on a new chapter of luxury aboard a week long iconic Maharajas Express rail journey at Safdarjung Railway Station, where we were welcomed with a red carpet reception, champagne, and traditional Indian adornments, setting the tone for an opulent journey through colourful Rajasthan.
The journey unfolded with visits to iconic landmarks such as the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Agra Fort, providing glimpses into the rich history of the Mughal Empire. Our quest for wildlife continued with an exhilarating game drive in Ranthambore National Park, where we were rewarded with more sightings of the majestic tiger.
Traveling southward aboard the Maharajas Express, we arrived in Jaipur, the Pink City, where we admired its terracotta-coloured buildings and explored majestic Amber Fort. Our culinary journey reached its pinnacle with a lavish feast at Rambagh Palace, accompanied by traditional Rajasthani music.
Exploring further west, we discovered the unique Junagarh Fort in Bikaner, followed by a memorable Thar desert experience, complete with camel rides and enchanting Rajasthani entertainment under the starlit sky. In Jodhpur, we delved into the local culture with visits to a Bishnoi village and the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, culminating in a thrilling Tuk Tuk ride through the bustling markets.
Our grand finale awaited in the picturesque city of Udaipur, where we savoured a leisurely cruise on Lake Pichola, admiring the majestic heritage palaces dotting its shores. The journey concluded with an enchanting 'Indian Evening' onboard the Maharajas Express, where we danced to the rhythm of Indian music with the gracious staff.
As we bid farewell to our home aboard the Maharajas Express in Mumbai, we reflected on our incredible journey, from tiger tracks to train tracks, through the heart of India—a truly dynamic experience that will forever remain etched in our memories.
