All things MOUNTAINOUS – 2nd June

Torres del Paine National Park was the destination for this weeks Cruise & Travel Show, and this magnificent National Park can be reached on many a cruise itinerary, sailing between Santiago and Buenos Aires, and by land on an amazing tour.  Let Travel Masters help you see these spectacular peaks by giving them a call and asking to speak to one of their many South America experts.

But we are leaving South America alone for this weeks Cruise Deal as we have something very, very special for you this time.

Dream Cruises are Asia’s first Premium Cruise line.   Their first sailings departed in November 2016, and they have increased their fleet to two fantastic ships, Genting Dream and World Dream.  Both ships carry 3,350 passengers in premium style cruising, with 35 different bars and restaurants to choose from, along with a huge range of activities from Waterslides, Mini Golf, 10 Pin Bowling, Sports Bar,  Designer Label Boutiques and expansive Casino to keep you entertained.

However, there is a magical, secret area on the Genting Dream called The Palace.  This is a small ship within a big ship environment, part boutique hotel, part private clubhouse.  Your own luxurious retreat that only residents of The Palace will ever get to see.  Its an all suite, private haven containing its own exclusive pool deck, restaurant and bar.  You will enjoy spacious accommodation, free WiFi and the ultimate in room service – your own private butler.  An inclusive drinks package is provided complimentary in The Palace, it even covers you for certain areas outside The Palace should you venture back in to the regular areas of the Genting Dream.  So this is a wonderful way to completely spoil yourself, so we have taken a short cruise onboard the Genting Dream, added it to flights and one of the best hotels in the world to give you the ultimate pamper trip.

The Palace

You will fly direct from Brisbane to Singapore on the 31st August and enjoy 2 nights at the famous 5* Fullerton Hotel.  Part hotel, part national monument, the Fullerton Hotel originally opened as Singapore’s Post Office in 1928, and was later used as the National Library.  During World War II it was used as a hospital for British Forces, and later as the headquarters of the Japanese Military Administration.   In 1997 it opened as a luxury hotel as has proven to be one of Singapores finest and most popular hotels ever since.  2 nights at the Fullerton Hotel is provided, giving you ample time to explore the city and soak up the history of this fascinating hotel.  We will even though in Breakfast and a guided tour of this historic hotel.

Palau Redang

Then its all aboard the Genting Dream, and 5 nights in your own Palace Suite to enjoy all the trimmings of The Palace as you sail on a 5 night cruise through South East Asia.  First up is Palau Rendang in Malaysia.  Redang Island has been increasingly growing in stature as a dive destination, long popular with Malaysian divers and now gaining a deserved international reputation. The reefs of the Redang archipelago consist of more than 55 genera of corals, with twice the number of species of fish populating the reefs. Of course this means the diving experience here is also very pleasant and interesting. Look out for fishes such as rabbit fish, silver barracudas, parrotfish, as well as turtles and occasional cuttlefish, squid or eagle ray. Feathers tars, hydroids, black coral, anemones sea fans and sponges dominate the reefs here.

Sihanoukville, also known as ‘Kampong Som’, is a coastal city in Cambodia and the capital city of Sihanoukville Province, located at the tip of an elevated peninsula in the country’s south-west at the Gulf of Thailand.  Sihanoukville’s many beaches and nearby islands make it Cambodia’s premier seaside resort with steadily rising numbers of national visitors and international tourists since the late 20th century. As a result of its economic diversity, the region’s natural beauty and the considerable recreational potential, a constantly increasing number of seasonal and permanent foreign residents make Sihanoukville one of the most culturally varied and dynamic population centers in Cambodia.

Laem Chabang is a port city in Chonburi Province, Thailand. It is situated 25 km north of Pattaya which takes 45 minutes’ drive. Laem Chabang is 125 km from Bangkok (2 hours’ drive).  A shore excursion to Bangkok will allow you to visit the Grand Palace and experience the grandeur of an ancient Siamese court where kings and queens resided hundred years ago. Beautiful situated, the Palace grounds encompass several major buildings, all topped by glittering spires and soaring finials. Within the Palace compound, you will visit the magnificent Royal Chapel, Wat Phra Kaeo which houses the world’s most precious image of the Lord Buddha.   If Bangkok is not on your list you could visit a local village to take in the local culture. Set against green hills and overlooking the breathtaking view of colourful Pattaya City, NongNooch Village is a 500 acres veritable paradise with extensive orchards and parkland and even includes a lake. Renowned for its wide-ranging orchid species, palm, cactus, bromeliad, and bonsai gardens, you can relax in this superbly charming setting. You may also visit an antique house and a Thai Handicraft House located there. In addition of gardens featuring orchids and many tropical plants, the village features monkeys climbing trees to harvest coconuts , an outdoor elephant show, an indoor cultural show which includes numerous folk dances, a war-like re-enactment of wars fought on  elephant back, traditional ceremonies, and Muay Thai boxing.

Last up is a day at sea to enjoy the private facilities of The Palace and explore the rest of the Genting Dream before you arrive back into Singapore and fly back to Australia.
