WE TRAVEL SO WE CAN OFFER FIRST-HAND EXPERTISE ON ALL THE DESTINATIONS THAT YOU WANT TO SEE

STAY TUNED TO SEE WHERE WE GO NEXT

Bob & Beth – previous company directors, intrepid travellers and tour host extraordinaires – have recently come back from discovering new destinations to explore in the Atacama Desert (world’s driest) and High Andean Plateau of Central South America.

Bob & Beth travelled for several weeks and explored parts of South America that even they had not seen before! Naturally, they have returned to us with a wealth of information and enviable stories of discovery and experience!

Northeast Chile, Bolivia and Northwest Argentina

Favourite Destination, Experience and Food

Choosing just one moment in each of these categories is almost impossible! There was so much to explore and experience.

The three largest and highest salt pans in the world are here, as big as small countries and at a height of over 3,500 metres above sea level!  At Uyuni in Bolivia, the salt is also up to 180 metres thick.  Very comfortable accommodation is available in a luxury Airstream Camper out in the middle of the salt flat, in one of four Salt Hotels, or in a personalised boutique hotel.

This is an active geothermal area with dozens of volcanoes, several significant geyser fields, and natural thermal baths.  The mineralised nature of the land provides an amazing array of soil colours, and unique landforms – huge gorges, mesas, and strange shapes etched by centuries of geological activity and erosion.  Wildlife stands out in the desert environment – lots of llamas, vicunas, alpacas, donkeys, goats, and high-altitude lakes host large flocks of flamingos.

Small towns and villages reflect the remote lifestyle of the Andes – quaint village squares and colourful shops, remnants of Spanish colonialism, simple adobe architecture, super-friendly locals and gorgeous children.  There’s a boutique wine industry here, so dining on Argentinian steaks with Chilean wines and Bolivian beers, surrounded by this unique culture – it’s just perfect!!

Bob & Beth’s Top Tips for experiencing Central South America

1 – Move Freely – The three countries of the Central Andes can be added (all 3, or separately) to any planned tour of South America – no additional visas are required for Australians.

2 – Stay in Style – The personalised Airstream Camper experience on the Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia is extraordinary – one of those unique unforgettable lifetime experiences.

3 – A Must Do – The Hot Air Balloon ride over the Atacama Desert in Chile is not to be missed. There is nothing quite like seeing the true beauty and awe of nature in it’s rawest form than from the sky, with the fresh air in your lungs.
