Antarctica 21's New State-Of-The-Art Polar Vessel

Antarctica 21 has revealed plans for their latest addition to their fleet: the Magellan Discoverer, a small-ship expedition vessel set to embark on journeys during the 2026-2027 Antarctic season.

The Magellan Discoverer embodies a commitment to cutting-edge design and environmental conservation, serving as the sister ship to the esteemed Magellan Explorer. While maintaining a similar level of sophistication and elegance, the Magellan Discoverer distinguishes itself with notable enhancements.

Constructed at the ASENAV shipyard in Valdivia, Chile – the same shipyard responsible for the Magellan Explorer – the Magellan Discoverer is equipped with a state-of-the-art hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and active stabilizers, ensuring a smoother and quieter passage through the icy landscapes.

In line with its predecessor, the Magellan Explorer, the Magellan Discoverer meets the rigorous PC6 ice class standards and boasts a boutique, yacht-like ambiance. Hosting up to 76 guests in 40 cabins spread across three passenger decks, the vessel adheres to the stringent Tier III emission standards and prioritizes environmental sustainability through its hybrid diesel-electric propulsion and heat recovery systems.

Featuring spacious dining areas, adaptable meeting spaces, an elegant observation lounge and bar, a fully-equipped gym, and a charming gift shop, the Magellan Discoverer offers guests a comfortable and immersive experience. Additionally, its accessible bow provides guests with a closer connection to the breathtaking waters they traverse.
