So many cities and so many songs about them! Another fantastic show today on 94.1FM. One city that does have many songs written about it, but not necessarily songs that were the big hits like New York New York or One Night in Bangkok, is our very own Sydney.
So if Sydney doesn’t have a big hit, we can make it feel better with a big cruise on a big ship….today’s Cruise Deal of the Week…
Sailing out of Sydney on the 27th October on board the amazing Explorer of the Seas for an 11 night South Pacific cruise. Enjoy one-of-a-kind features like an ice-skating rink, the Royal Promenade and a rock-climbing wall. The 138,000-ton, 3,114-guest Explorer of the Seas offers more space for every guest – plus enhanced staterooms, expanded dining options and exceptional recreational facilities. This cruise ship is so high-tech, it even features the University of Miami Ocean Lab, a state-of-the-art oceanographic and atmospheric science lab!
After two days at sea (which you will need to be able to explore the Explorer!) you have 5 wonderful South Pacific ports to enjoy. First up is Isle of Pines in New Caledonia. The waters off the Isle of Pines must really ‘wash whitest’ because the sands of the Isle’s Kato Bay will impress any visitor with its white, white, talcum-like beach. The tall narrow pine trees are a feature of this 17km long island.
New Caledonia’s lush beauty has earned it many names, including “The Island Closest to Paradise” and “The St. Tropez of the Pacific.” The poincianas, or flame trees, will color the island with their bright red umbrellas when you visit Noumea.
A small, uninhabited island that is one of the most southern of the Vanuatu group. Mystery Island was used as a World War II landing strip for the allied forces. There is now absolutely no tourism development except for the occasional visit by cruise ship. There are no roads, no shops and no stress!
Lifou is the largest coral atoll in the Loyalty archipelago, Vanuatu. Lifou has the wonderful charm of an island that has managed to preserve its own traditional Kanak culture. You’ll stand there awestruck in front of all of its breathtakingly beautiful views. Lifou is special in that it has a number of diversified landscapes; the northern coast of the island is made up of high, steep cliffs, whilst the southern side has pristine white sand beaches with stunning turquoise waters.
Back into New Caledonia and the port of Maré, where you can let go on the shores of the idyllic and beautifully hued beaches of this peaceful South Pacific getaway. Surround yourself with lagoons teeming with marine life, hike along fossilized coral rock and discover secret grottoes in the mystical island of Maré.
Two more days at sea to enjoy your spectacular floating hotel, and you arrive back into Sydney.
